Though Empire-owned Sobeys had initially planned to roll out its Voilà e-commerce division later, the Canadian grocer is moving up its launch date amidst a growing need for online grocery resources. In fact, Voilà management expects to begin testing the service the week of April 26, 2020.
In a recent company update, Empire management revealed that it anticipates online grocery needs will likely remain elevated in the long-term as shoppers become more comfortable with online grocery delivery. As a result, the consumer launch of Voilà, the online grocery home delivery service, has been accelerated to meet the increasing demand for delivery.
The technology’s phased rollout to customers will begin when testing is successfully completed. This innovative automated warehouse is completely powered by Ocado’s—one of Sobeys partners—industry-leading grocery technology.
Will this new delivery division help Sobeys accelerate its online grocery operations? Deli Market News will continue to report.
