The Sunshine State is getting some retail love as Southeastern Grocers (SEG) looks to solidify its presence in its home state. SEG revealed it is continuing its Florida expansion into 2023. First on the list is a new location in North Florida, with a Winn-Dixie location opening up in Jacksonville next year.
“We are always looking to better serve our customers, and the new College Park Winn-Dixie store presents an exciting opportunity for us to expand in our hometown,” Anthony Hucker, President and Chief Executive Officer, said. “We plan to make a significant investment in the new store and provide more than 100 job opportunities to enrich the revitalization of the Arlington community and ensure our new customers receive remarkable service.”
SEG has renewed over 70 percent of its stores throughout its Southeast footprint to date in order to enhance consumer shopping experiences, a press release noted. With this Jacksonville location, SEG will continue its forward progress, strengthening its reach in Florida.
The new store will join the newly opened Westlake Winn-Dixie as well as eight new Winn-Dixie locations in Boynton Beach, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Lakewood Ranch, Lake Mary, West Melbourne, and two others in Jacksonville that all opened in 2020.
Last fall, the grocer also launched WDs Wine, Beer, and Liquor in Jacksonville, a stand-alone concept that provides a convenient destination for fine wine, craft beer, and quality liquor.
