With more than 20 years of legal experience in public policy and regulatory compliance, risk management, information technology, and litigation, SpartanNash’s newest Vice President is harnessing crucial knowledge to push the company forward. The food solutions company recently announced the promotion of Kristen Porter to Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Compliance Officer, where she will be tasked with overseeing compliance efforts and the food safety team, along with her management of the licensing team.
Porter joined SpartanNash’s ranks as Director and Assistant General Counsel in March 2022 and was later promoted to Senior Director, Assistant General Counsel and Compliance Officer in March 2023. Since joining the company, she has supported the consumables, licensing, pharmacy, merchandising, retail, and communications functions, and provided legal advice and counsel on a variety of legal and regulatory areas, a press release shared.
In her new role, Porter will spearhead the continued design, development, and implementation of the retailer’s compliance structure and governance, working with leaders throughout the organization to drive accountability and compliance. In addition, she will provide regular reports on the status of the company's compliance program to the Board of Directors' Audit Committee.
Before joining the team at SpartanNash, Porter previously worked at GHSP, where she served as General Counsel and Corporate Compliance Officer.
