Peanut butter and jelly. Ham and cheese. Coffee and creamer. So many iconic partnerships can be found in the world of food, and now yet another exciting alliance has surfaced. Sysco Corporation recently announced an exclusive new partnership with SAVRpak to deliver its patented food preservation technology to independent and local chain restaurants across the nation. As a result of the alliance, Sysco will make SAVRpak's “freshness packs” available to its customers through its Cutting Edge Solutions platform.

SAVRpack freshness packs are a frozen, peel-and-stick patch that removes moisture from the air of food containers, keeping it away from the meal and ensuring both hot and cold foods remain fresh in transit, according to a press release. The innovative, patented technology was developed by an aerospace engineer.

The company’s unique solution is paper- and plant-based, uses no chemicals, and is expected to receive its biodegradable certification later this year. SAVRpak has also been named a winner of the 2021 P&G Ventures Innovation Challenge and Best Sustainable Packaging in the 2021 World Food Innovation Awards.
