Tofurky is expanding its sister-brand Moocho further into the plant-based dairy sphere after debuting new vegan cheese products that will include both a Shreds and Spreads format. The products will be available in category classics like Cheddar, Mozzarella, and a Fiesta Blend (under its shredded cheese format) and cream cheese flavor favorites like Plain, Garden, Vegetable, and Strawberry.
“Category research suggests shoppers see a gap in the plant-based cheese category where brands haven’t been able to provide a taste and texture that people crave,” said Jaime Athos, President and CEO of Moocho and Tofurky. “Moocho aims to improve category perception and impress a market hungry for delicious, affordable, and accessible plant-based options. As a category, we can do better now, with more ingredient options available.”
Moocho’s latest product debuts are but one way the brand is leveling up the plant-based category’s dairy-free comfort food options. Each new chef-crafted cheese product provides a taste and texture shoppers crave in the dairy category. According to a press release, the Shreds are made using fermented cultures and aging to draw out the very best experience in plant-based shredded cheeses; the Spreads use fermented soy milk to cultivate a rich, smooth spread.
Both of the new unique product lines are vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free, with zero percent cholesterol, from a certified B-Corp that consumers can feel good about adding to their shopping carts.
The Shreds will be available in 8 oz bags while the Spreads will be available in 8 oz tubs beginning this summer.
