Trader Joe’s has done it again: They’ve stunned this trade news writer into speechlessness. The cause, you ask? Why, it’s none other than the retailer’s latest product, Spicy Salami Chips, which it recently released.
“Don’t let that ‘chips’ word fool because these are in the refrigerator section,” stated Matt Sloan, Vice President of Marketing, in the grocer’s most recent podcast episode. “It’s just salami, but it’s given a little bit of a treatment, not dissimilar from those Baked Cheese Bites.”
The versatility of these chips does not go unnoticed by me, who is already crafting various ways that I can add these to my summertime staples. Paired with a crisp lager? Check. Adding crunch to my cheese platter? Check. Subbing out tortilla chips? Double check.
It’s only a matter of time before Trader Joe’s takes over the cheese and meat game. How will other grocers rise to the challenge and up theirs?
