Unilever Announces Plans to Acquire Yasso; Matt Close, Amanda Klane, Drew Harrington, and Craig Shiesley Comment

Frozen snack pioneer Yasso and food brand behemoth Unilever recently announced a strategic transaction. It was revealed that Unilever has entered into an agreement to acquire Yasso in a landmark deal.

The acquisition is aligned to the premiumization strategy of Unilever’s Ice Cream Business Group, a press release explained. Yasso joins other premium brands in the portfolio including Ben & Jerry’s, Magnum, and Talenti.

Yasso’s wide product portfolio responds to growing demand in North America for on-the-go, healthier, and more indulgent frozen snacks. The products in the current Yasso range contain less than 150 calories each.

The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2023, subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
