Newly established transportation strategies are popping up all over the industry, especially for Walmart, which has made key advancements to its fleet in recent months. In its latest announcement, the retailer revealed a strategic alliance with Platform Science to implement new onboarding technology and further incentivize its network.
“Not only are we offering industry-leading benefits, compensation, and development programs, but we have implemented two technology tools that work together to create a world-class driver experience and provide real-time visibility to the day-to-day operations of our network of more than 12,000 drivers,” said Scott Donahue, Vice President, Innovation and Automation Product at Walmart.
All of the retailer’s Private Fleet cabs are now equipped with an intuitive tablet that is fully integrated with NTransit, the retailer explained in a blog post. Through this innovative system, private fleet drivers have access to a more streamlined and transparent onboarding process.
With the implementation of this cutting-edge technology, Walmart plans to build on an already strong foundation of transportation transformation. Drivers will now be supported by better visibility, enhanced communication, and greater productivity and retention.
“A point of pride for the Platform Science and Walmart collaboration has been the significant increase in driver satisfaction, reflecting the best-in-class experience we want to provide,” Donahue continued. “We plan to continue improving and evolving our onboard systems based on feedback from our drivers and store associates so our supply chain associates can do their jobs with safety, courtesy, and pride. Walmart will continue to invest in disruptive technologies to take flight in today’s complex retail environment.”
