The retail sector has grown and expanded to meet a myriad of consumer needs. To continue to bring shoppers the groceries they need, Weis Markets has appointed a new Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing. Bob Gleeson has been promoted to take over this position as he joins the retailer’s leadership team.
Gleeson joined Weis Markets in 2019 as Vice President of Fresh Merchandising. In this new position, Gleeson will oversee the company’s fresh and center store merchandising, sales and procurement, marketing, and advertising. He will be reporting to Weis Markets’ Chief Operating Officer Kurt Schertle.
According to the release, Gleeson began his 29-year career in the industry at Shoppers Food Warehouse in 1984 as a part-time grocery associate.
During his time with the Lanham, Maryland-based Shoppers, and subsequently Supervalu, he worked in increasingly senior leadership positions, including Vice President of Center Store, Senior Vice President of Merchandising, and Division President.
