I don’t know about you, but I never cease to be amazed by the number of plant-based milks on the market—what a time to be alive! Califia Farms®, a major player in the plant-based beverage game, has introduced Übermilk, a nutritious line of oat milk beverages that are packed with protein and essential nutrients. As Califia Farms continues to break barriers on “What Plants Can Do,” one can see how Übermilk fits right in with the food trends of 2019.
"Übermilk is a leap into the next frontier," said Greg Steltenpohl, Califia Farms' Founder and CEO. "Nutritionally Übermilk is one of the more nutrient dense plant milks on the broader market with a powerful combination of both macro and micro nutrients, and most importantly it wins on taste and texture, thanks to our naturally creamy and great-tasting Oatmilk serving as the base."
The food industry is experiencing a seismic shift, with environmental and personal health concerns increasing, and consumers beginning to reject ultra-processed “big food” products, opting instead for more plant-based products. Sales of protein enhanced non-dairy milks has nearly doubled in sales over the past year, with Oatmilk alone up 168 percent over last year.
Übermilk contains a slew of health benefits, including all eight essential amino acids and fatty acids from plant oils for Omegas 3, 6, and 9, along with calcium, iron, vitamin D, potassium, and vitamin E. The oat-based milk is made entirely from whole grain, gluten-free oats, combining eight grams of complementary plant-based proteins from pea, oats, and sunflower seeds. Übermilk joins Califia Farms’ existing line of plant-based milks, including coconut, almond, oat, and cashew.
"Made from a blend of seeds and pulses, Übermilk removes
any compromise for anyone seeking better nutrition from plants," said Ashley Koff, RD and CEO of The Better Nutrition Program. "I'm equally impressed with the nutrient density and taste."
Übermilk is available in three varieties—Unsweetened, Unsweetened Vanilla, and Chocolate, and will be available at Whole Foods Market stores nationwide beginning in Spring 2019, with additional distribution throughout the year.
Not content to rest on new products, the company is taking a look at existing product packaging. Califia Farms was the first to introduce a completely dairy0free, nitro-infused, Cold Brew Coffee in 2016, according to the press release. The company’s Nitro Draft Latte Cold Brews will feature refreshed packaging and a new twistable, resealable cap, and are set to roll out in May 2019. Available in three flavors—Latte, Mocha, and New Orleans—the Nitro Draft Latte marries creamy almond and macadamia milks with cold brew made from direct-trade beans and an infusion of nitrogen to bring out the natural sweetness in a silky micro-foam.
Both the Übermilk and new Nitro Draft Latte packaging will be on display at Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, Ca from March 7-9. Other products featured will be Califia Farms’ Oatmilk, Oat Barista Blend, and a wide range of other plant-based milks, ready-to-drink coffees, probiotic dairy-free yogurts, dairy-free creamers, and citrus juice. If you’re looking to stop on by, Califia Farms will be located at booth #5192.
