Summer Fancy Food Show might have passed, but the excitement surrounding it certainly hasn’t. Ambriola Cremezzo cheese snacks, which were introduced at 2018 Winter Fancy Food Show and brought to market in April 2018, won an Italian Food Award USA award at SFFS for Most Innovative Cheese Product.
The Italian Food Awards USA are an international B2B integrated project of Gruppo Food, supported by the Specialty Food Association (SFA) and Universal Marketing. At this year’s SFFS, a total of 160 products from 96 Italian companies were voted on by a jury composed of U.S. retailers, importers, and distributors. The winners were selected from 11 product categories; three special awards went to Packaging, Innovation, and Sustainability. The awards were created to highlight creative, versatile food products that respond to growing U.S. consumer demand for certified quality, natural quality, and sustainable innovation in food products.
I chatted with Phil Marfuggi, President and CEO of The Ambriola Company, about the award-winning cheese snack and what this honor means for the Ambriola team.
“It’s very important for us to be recognized by the retail and foodservice community for not only innovation, but for the quality and taste of the product,” Phil tells me, excited to share the news of Ambriola’s award. "The snacking category for specialty cheese is growing and we at Ambriola will continue to introduce new quality cheeses in this category.”
According to Phil, Ambriola’s Cremezzo cheese snacks are the first provolone snack to enter the market. A good source of protein with an attractive, eye-catching half moon shape, it’s sure to catch more than just this girl’s eye. Consumers will fall in love with the easy pouch bag packaging, as well as the flavorful burst of energy in the middle of the day. The taste is similar to a mozzerella, I’m told, but a tad bit more flavorful.
Consumers are definitely raving about these little treats, enough so to launch them into stardom. Cremezzo cheese snacks have been attracting consumers with its on-the-go convenience and fresh taste.
“It’s a perfect, low-calorie snack for both children and adults,” says Phil. “It has great packaging, is easy to bring as a snack wherever you go, and even melts well on a sandwich, panini, or slider.”
