Looking to expand its presence in this key market, Dannon has introduced plans to invest at least $25 million in order to grow its footprint in the Midwest.

The Dayton Business Journal reported that the company is planning a new 300,000-sq-ft distribution center at Dannon’s Minster, Ohio, location.

Beavercreek-based Woolpert Inc. announced the project in a press release, according to the journal, and noted that the project will also involve steel fabricator Mound Technologies and general contractor Ferguson Construction Co.

The journal reports that the refrigerated facility will have 50 dock doors and 5 penthouses for refrigeration equipment. The new distribution center will be an addition to the company’s preexisting Minster plant. Located 50 miles North of Dayton, the facility currently employs approximately 400 people, and as of 2012, produced 3 million cups of yogurt each day.

The pre-existing facility, originally acquired in 1968 was expanded significantly from 2011 to 2014 when the company embarked on an $88 million expansion effort.
