In a market brimming with a deluge of products for consumers to choose from, companies are taking a dive into new types of favorite products to ensnare more shoppers and guarantee repeat purchases. Deca & Otto is undergoing its own tap into a beloved category, as the company prepares to launch its differentiated selections of Greek Yogurt.
The company is extending the uniqueness of its water buffalo milk products from its already popular cheeses and spreads to now include Greek Yogurts.
“We saw an opportunity in the yogurt sector as there were a lot of different kind of Greek Yogurts, but none made with buffalo milk,” Alberto Sasson of Deca & Otto, tells me of the company’s latest endeavor. “We want to be the leaders in Greek Yogurt made from buffalo milk.”
These new offerings will be sold in individual sizes for the convenience-minded consumer, in 150 g (5.3 oz) cups. Deca & Otto intends to make a splash in the category with a wide mix of flavors, such as the following:
The company will offer shoppers who crave the buffalo milk taste a larger size for its Plain flavor, which will enable consumers to utilize the product in multiple ways. Deca & Otto’s most popular flavor is the Dulce de Leche flavored Greek Yogurt. The product’s popularity may be due in part to its luscious buffalo milk taste, in addition to being produced in-house.
"A lot of work and research has gone into our yogurt’s design, to make sure it is just right," Alberto continues. "The dominant color of the packaging will be white to represent the smooth and white buffalo milk that is used, with a color dripping down the side of each to represent the flavor. The lid/foil will be dark gray to represent the color of the buffalos, or bufalas."
As we’ve previously reported, Deca & Otto’s full line of buffalo milk dairy products is unique for its many health benefits. Alberto emphasizes that buffalo milk has 30%-40% less cholesterol and more natural protein than regular milk, and also enables consumption by lactose intolerant consumers.
The company has already made some noise with its delectable Greek yogurt as Deca & Otto was awarded for Best Yogurt in the American Cheese Society’s 2016 Judging and Competition, and expects to be scooping up first prize awards soon.
