Heralding those who played distinguished roles in their commitment to local and global communities, the International Institute of Wisconsin recently anointed Karen Nielsen with its 2016 World Citizen Award.
Awarded on Saturday, April 30, at the institute’s annual World Citizen Celebration Dinner, Nielsen was publically recognized for maintaining a leadership position in the institute’s formation, and continual promotion of international cooperation, and perpetuating a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural perspective.

Throughout her professional endeavors, Nielsen has provided training to over 83 countries, initiated the development of multilingual educational materials, and formulated dairy research and outreach collaborations throughout the world, thus making her a worthy recipient of the worldly award.
