Winter Fancy Food Show is happening now, with showgoers from across the nation getting up close and personal with the industry’s new and beloved specialty food products. While the show gives lucky attendees the chance to bite into what’s up-and-coming, for those who aren’t attending, Emmi Roth has given us the exclusive on its new launch at this year’s show.
I caught up with Heather Engwall, Director of Marketing for Emmi Roth, to find out more on the company’s plans for Winter Fancy Food Show 2018.
Expanding into the snack cheese category, Emmi Roth is debuting three delicious new Roth Snack Cheeses—Creamy Cheddar, Creamy Gouda, and Creamy Whole Milk Mozzarella–prepped and ready to take over cheese counters come this spring.
“So far, the retailers we’ve shown our snack cheeses to have given us favorable responses, and we’ve already received some interest,” Heather shares with me. “In terms of the total category, we know that branded deli snack cheese is really where growth is right now and where the category is headed. We’re excited about our own Roth branded cheese snacks as we’re trying to grow our brand, and there’s no better time than now to join the snack category.”
Available in 6- and 10-count packs of three-quarter-ounce round pieces of cheese, the new Roth Snack Cheeses have a creamy texture that is sure to keep showgoers and consumers coming back for more. With five grams of protein and 70 calories per serving, the Creamy Cheddar, Creamy Gouda, and Creamy Whole Milk Mozzarella snacks are on-trend with consumer snack demands and made to satisfy the cravings of all age groups. And all Emmi Roth’s new snack cheeses tout a natural, gluten-free, preservative-free milk-base.
“The taste is the most unique thing of this product,” Heather tells me. “Each flavor has a unique and distinct creamy texture and tastes unlike any other snack cheese on the market. Our new cheeses are made with our standard of specialty cheese, with fresh, local, and rBST-free milk—all of which are assurances to the consumers that they are getting a natural, high-quality product that is low in calories and high in protein. The hope is that not only kids will love it, but that the parents who buy this product for their kids’ lunches will also include it in theirs.”
While the Roth Snack Cheeses are definitely the star of this show, the new line’s packaging rivals the cheese in boldness. Designed to stand out on deli and cheese counters, Heather notes this product was made to be merchandized by retailers, with a packable handle that gives retailers the option of displaying the cheese via a peg, standing it up on its own, or even in its shelf-ready display case.
“We’re really excited about the innovative and different packaging,” Heather says. “The bright orange and red colors were curated to be pleasing to the eye and to stand out in stores.”
Launching first at the Winter Fancy Food Show, Emmi Roth’s new Snack Cheeses will be available this April for retailers and consumers. And, because this hot new item was made to be shown off, Heather tells me the company is planning a national marketing campaign, including digital advertising and targeted retailer promotions.
