As consumers look to limit their sodium intake without compromising flavor, cheese and butter maker Finlandia®, is launching a new trend-encompassing line. Called Finlandia® Spreadable Butter with Canola Oil and Finlandia® Spreadable Butter with Canola Oil 25% Reduced Fat, these products tout over 55 percent less sodium than the other leading butter brands, while still showcasing full-flavor.
“Excessive sodium consumption is the most significant risk factor in high blood pressure, the single biggest contributor to the reduction of life expectancy worldwide,” shared Emma Aer, Chief Executive Officer. “For years, the food industry has sought ways to reduce sodium content without compromising taste. After years of R&D, our team at Valio has solved that dilemma through our innovative ValSa® milk mineral salt process. Now, our customers can enjoy the full, delicious, buttery taste of Finlandia Spreadable Butters with significantly less sodium than the others.”
According to a press release, Finlandia’s Spreadable Butters with Canola Oil are crafted with pure, wholesome milk from family-owned farms in Finland and contain only four real ingredients: butter, canola oil, water, and milk minerals, also know as ValSa®. ValSa is a patented milk mineral salt, which Finlandia refers to as a superior ingredient in lowering salt intake in butter.
Finlandia’s Spreadable Butter with Canola Oil is churned using Finnish milk from cows that are never given rBST or other artificial hormones. Each of the only four ingredients used are made GMO-free, and are available in 8 oz. and 15 oz. tubs. Both premium spreadable butters will be available in the dairy section of grocery stores and supermarkets nationwide beginning this September.
