Global dairy company, FrieslandCampina, recently announced its acquisition of Jana Foods, U.S.-based cheese importer and distributor. Jana Foods will be integrated in the FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy U.S business, and the former CEO and Owner, Dan Lynch, will remain involved as Vice President of Imports and Senior Commercial Advisor.
“This acquisition supports our strategy of investing for growth,” stated Roel van Neerbos, President, FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy, in a press release. “This investment is in-line with our strategy to grow our cheese business and strengthens our positions in The Americas. This deal will allow us to offer consumers a wider portfolio of innovative products for the U.S. market.”
Jana Foods currently imports and markets FrieslandCampina’s Dutch cheese in the United States market, along with other cheese from the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, and other countries. The press release noted that Jana Foods has been an important strategic partner of FrieslandCampina, helping the company establish a strong position for its international cheese brands.
FrieslandCampina’s products range from specialty-imported Dutch cheeses like smoked Gouda to Swiss Emmental and Goat Cheese, most of which can be found across the United States in the deli section of supermarkets, club stores, and mass merchandisers.
