With less than a week left until the Winter Fancy Food Show, my head is already spinning with visions of new product debuts, celebrations of classic offerings, and countless opportunities to admire all of your deli, dairy, bakery, and specialty food faces in person! I don’t want to make any false claims, but I’m thinking cheese is going to take the cake—cheese?!—at this year’s show as many of our industry’s top cheesemakers head to San Francisco with fresh ideas and new takes on dairy deliciousness. One such cheesemaker is Marin French Cheese. The Marin French team is prepped and ready to introduce an extension to its Petite Brie range.

Inspired by our triple cream recipe, we are adding whole mustard seeds to bring a characteristic punch and crunch to consumers' palates,” Manon Servouse, Brand Manager of Marin French Cheese, shared with me. “It’s a perfect cheeseboard cheese to pair with a cabernet-sauvignon wine. Buyers and show attendees should visit us on the show-floor for a sample!”

Consumers increasingly are looking to adorn their cheeseboards with natural American artisan cheeses, and Manon noted that, in addition to Marin French’s current line of Petite Brie, the new Petite Mustard meets this need with flying colors. Specifically, the flavor profile of the Petite Mustard is the perfect balance of hints of hazelnut, punches of mustard seeds, and buttery goodness.

“We have been handcrafting our soft-ripened cheese in small batches out of Marin County with the same traditional know-how and California milk that we’ve been using since 1865—and we’re very proud of that," explained Manon. "In that same vein, the Petite Mustard is made with cultured, fresh milk from California, following the traditional way of making brie. The addition of mustard seeds to the recipe brings a truly unique flavor profile to the table."

Available in 4-ounce sizes and wrapped in breathable cheese paper, the Petite Mustard will enter the market in February 2019.
