Organic Valley Launches Grassmilk® Kids Yogurt and Publishes Health Study

Convenient, yet healthy is all the rage with consumers today. And while many in the dairy industry are launching products adult consumers love, who’s looking out for the little guys? In line with its award-winning Grassmilk Yogurt, Organic Valley is introducing Grassmilk® Kids Yogurt with superior nutrition and kid-friendly packaging that tykes will love and parents can feel good about, knowing they are giving their little ones the highest-quality, organic, 100 percent grass-fed yogurt.“Our Grassmilk Kids Yogurt was formulated with kids’ palates in mind–no one had created whole milk, grass-fed yogurt options made just for kids,” Alex Schams, Associate Brand Manager, tells me. “Organic Valley is the number-one brand for organic, 100 percent grass-fed dairy, so it makes sense we’d be the first.”

And, in a peer-reviewed paper published in The Journal of Food Science and Nutrition, scientists found that 100 percent grass-fed, organic whole milk has exceptional levels of omega-3s and Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)–something that won’t have parents hesitating to grab Grassmilk Kids Yogurt off grocery shelves.

In the study, more than 1,100 samples of Organic Valley Whole Grassmilk–which uses milk from cows fed an exclusively grass and legume forage diet–were compared with conventional whole milk over a three-year period. The study found that the relationship between what cows eat and the levels of important nutrients in their milk is significant. Specifically, the milk:

  • Contains 147 percent more omega-3s–beneficial fats that have been linked to brain and eye health, especially in young children–than conventional whole milk, and 52 percent more omega 3s than organic whole milk
  • Contains 125 percent higher CLA–which studies have shown can boost immunity, heart health, and cancer prevention–than conventional whole milk and 90 percent higher CLA than organic whole milk
  • Contains a balanced 1:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids

I’m not surprised that my herd’s health and happiness makes extraordinary milk.”

With kids’ health and size in mind, Organic Valley is bridging the gap between healthy and delicious, and offering four-packs of 4-ounce cups and eight-packs of 2-ounce tubes of Grassmilk Kids Yogurt. And, to make the deal even sweeter, Organic Valley’s new yogurt line combines whole milk with organic fruit purees like strawberry, blueberry, and bananaberry for a minimally processed lunchbox addition.

Smooth, creamy, and the perfect organic kid-friendly snack, Grassmilk Kids Yogurt is also a great source of calcium, with simple ingredients that leave out added gums, artificial flavors, antibiotics, synthetic hormones, toxic pesticides, and GMOs.
