PITTSBURGH, PA

Not one, not two, not three, but six medals were taken home from this year’s American Cheese Society’s Competition by Roth Cheese. The Monroe, Wisconsin-based cheesemaker celebrates its winnings from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, battle of the cheeses.

Tim Omer, President and Managing Director, Roth Cheese“Our success comes from our dedicated team of cheesemakers and crew who work tirelessly to ensure we only make the best quality cheese available,” Tim Omer, President and Managing Director, shared. “These awards mean a lot to all of us, and fuel our passion for cheesemaking.”

The following cheeses were the winners:

Roth Pavino: First Place in the Washed Rind Cheeses Open Category

Roth Pavino cheese placed first in the Washed Rind Cheeses Open Category at ACS 2018

This washed rind alpine-style cheese is aged for over nine months in the Roth cellars. The cheese offers a complex flavor that is nutty, sweet, and earthy, and it is handcrafted exclusively for Whole Foods Market.

Roth GranQueso®: Second Place in the Hispanic & Portuguese Style Cheeses Category

Roth GranQueso® placed second in the Hispanic & Portuguese Style Cheeses Category

This American original is made unique by the company’s hand-rubbed cinnamon and paprika take that provides a mix of candied pineapple and brown butter. The flavors in the six-to-eight-month-long cured cheese stand out year after year, offering a sweet, citrus, spice, and hazelnut taste. This is the 15th consecutive award for the cheese in the category.

Roth Grand Cru® Original: Second Place in the Washed Rind Cheeses Category

Roth Grand Cru® Original placed second in the Washed Rind Cheeses Category at ACS 2018

This signature cheese is crafted in authentic copper vats with Wisconsin milk sourced from within 60 miles of the company’s creamery. This system creates an original alpine-style cheese that is unique and offers light floral notes, nutty undertones, a hint of fruitiness, and a mellow finish.

The company also took home Third Place for these cheeses: Prairie Sunset®, Grand Cru® Reserve, and Organic Grand Cru® Reserve in their respective categories, according to a press release.

Checkout the competition’s website for a full list of winners from the 1,900 participating cheese products that were judged during this year’s competition.

Congratulations to the Roth Cheese team on your accomplishments at this year’s event.
