Things are moving and shaking in the cheese world. Liz Bankowski, President and CEO of The Windham Foundation, announced today that Ruth Flore has been appointed CEO of the Grafton Village Cheese Company (GVCC), a subsidiary of The Windham Foundation. This move will be effective August 20 2018. Currently, Flore manages marketing and business development of several partner brands for Norseland Inc.—the sales and marketing agent for Jarlsberg and other specialty cheeses. She has over two decades of experience in the industry including early in her career with Vermont Creamery.
“Ruth has played a significant role in developing the specialty cheese sector in the United States,” stated Liz Bankowski in a company press release. “Her deep and broad experience makes her an ideal leader to help Grafton Village Cheese Company capitalize on new opportunities and to strengthen our core business.”
Flore has been a leading member of the American Cheese Society since its early days serving as President as well as serving on the Board of Directors. She co-founded the Cheese of Choice Coalition in 1999 to protect the production and sales of raw milk cheese in the US. Relaunched in 2015 as the Oldways Cheese Coalition, she serves on the Advisory Committee. She is a member of the prestigious Guilde Internationale des Fromagers and a judge for the Royal Bath & West British Cheese Awards.
