After 70 years of bringing quality cheese to the market, Schuman Cheese isn’t ready to just rest on its legacy. Reaching this landmark anniversary came with a new look, a new name, and a renewed focus on doing what the company does best—its cheeses. At this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, New York, National Sales Manager Allison Schuman joined me to talk about the newly renamed Schuman Cheese, and what’s next for the growing company.
“It’s about getting the name out there, and we took a look at the forward-facing brand that we’re presenting to everybody. We found the need to evolve,” Allison shared with me from the floor. “We wanted a name that not only paid homage not only to my great grandfather, but also incorporated any subsequent generations that will be coming into the business in the next 70 years.”
Also on the horizon for Schuman Cheese is a line extension of its popular Cello Whisps product. The company’s Master Cheesemaker, Christophe Megevand, created a cheddar wheel that lent perfectly to the task of introducing Cheddar Whisps.
