Forget the decadent, lengthy affairs of meals of long ago—snacking is the nature of healthy eating now, as more and more are seeking out what’s conveniently delicious. Giving shoppers even more options to choose from is Winona Foods, who is expanding two of its cheese lines to keep up with the snacking category that is showing no signs of slowing anytime soon.
I caught up with Winona Foods’ Marketing Manager Nate Meyer to learn more about the company’s latest artisan debuts.
“Under our Cheese Crafters™ Brand, we recently expanded our Cheese Tiles offering by introducing three new artisan flavors–Havarti, Sharp Cheddar, and Gouda—and introduced two new Goat Cheese Spreadable products in Garden Herb and Roasted Red Pepper & Garlic flavors,” Nate tells me. “The snacking segment is continuing to grow, and with our expanded artisan cheese lines, we are tapping into this segment while also helping shoppers snack easier and healthier.”
Artisan, but with a convenient on-the-go twist, the Cheese Tiles snacks are available in 6 oz stand-up, peggable, grab-and-go pouches with a resealable zip, so the snacking party doesn’t have to end after one sitting of good grubbing. Nate also notes that the graphics on the packaging are sure to stand out on the cheese wall and bolster the already popular Cheddar, Colby, and Pepperjack Cheese Tiles flavors with more unique options.
“Snackers everywhere are looking for more healthy options, and the Cheese Tiles are unique compared to what’s on the market,” Nate says. “Not only are they great for snacking, but they do well on cheese boards, too. Consumers can even pair them with a number of appetizers and hors d'oeuvre. We’ve all been snacking on them at Winona.”
In addition to the Cheese Tiles, Winona’s Goat Cheese Spreads line is getting some new flavors as well. While the flavors are new, Nate notes that the Winona team kept the high-quality artisan ingredients in familiar territory for consumers. And, Nate adds, that the Cheese Crafter’s Goat Cheese Spreads are the perfect items to complete retailers’ sets that will get consumers excited and keep them coming back for more.
“The goat milk cheese segment has seen growth in recent years, and our new spreads are offering consumers versatile and unique goat cheese products,” Nate shares with me. “The Goat Cheese Spreads have a nice consistency and dip-friendly textures, making them a great addition to bagels, flatbreads, wraps, and more. While this product is not yet available at retail, we’ve had a positive response from everyone who’s tried it—they can’t get enough of the flavor and consistency and like that it is a healthy alternative different from what’s already on the market.”
Winona Foods’ Cheese Tiles are available primarily on the East Coast, and retailers looking to tap into the snacking craze popular with consumers won’t want to miss this opportunity to shake things up in the cheese aisle.
