Wisconsin Cheese Announces Grilled Cheese Competition Geared to Drive Sales

With the annual Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Recipe Showdown fast approaching, interested retailers should get ready for, the largest Wisconsin Cheese promotion of the year.

According to a Wisconsin Cheese press release, last year’s participating retailers saw up to a 15 percent increase in Wisconsin Cheese sales—and this year’s promotion will include six weeks of marketing and public relations support, including digital ads, celebrity judges, and even more prize money.

The Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Recipe Showdown is intended to generate excitement and increase cheese sales for participating retailers this spring. Coverage in national publications including Rachael Ray Every Day and digital media support from Wisconsin Cheese will provide participating retailers with a variety of tools, including custom in-store and online merchandising to create a fully-integrated omni-channel shopper experience. Customizable assets are designed for retailers to generate impulse sales, cross-merchandising, and promotion on social media.

The campaign will culminate in a grilled cheese judging featuring celebrity judges from national publications and the foodie world; the festivities will be covered and winners announced on Facebook Live.

Additionally, the press release noted, regional marketing managers at Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board are working with Wisconsin Cheese manufacturers and retailers to create in-store promotions, special branded point of sale displays, and live events that encourage sampling and purchase while building awareness for the grilled cheese competition.

Consumers can enter their grilled cheese creations featuring Wisconsin Cheese, in one of four categories, from April 2 through May 15. A single grand prize winner will receive $15,000 and be crowned the 2018 Grilled Cheese Champion—and an additional $25,000 in cash and bonus prizes will be awarded.
