Grilled cheese. Sign me up, and serve it to me a million different ways, and I’ll be truly happy. Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (WMMB) is thinking along the same lines of championing a well-paired bread with melted cheese, with its upcoming Grilled Cheese Recipe Showdown.
“We are thrilled to partner with so many great retailers for this year’s Grilled Cheese Academy Grilled Cheese Recipe Showdown,” said Kirk Scott, Director of Retail Programs at the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. “We look forward to seeing all of the amazing sandwiches their customers create.”
Retailers across the country are joining the company’s Grilled Cheese Academy in order to find the perfect grilled cheese selections with its sixth annual event. Thus far, according to a press release, over 150 retailers have signed on to the search.
This year, the Grilled Cheese Academy expects to see even more entries than last year’s 2000 submissions. Recipe entries will be accepted from March 30 through May 14, and will be judged on taste, creativity, and presentation.
The grand prize winner will be the dubbed the 2017 Grilled Cheese Champion, and receive the $15,000 prize. However, there is more prizes to be had, as more than $13,500 in additional cash and bonus prizes will be awarded throughout the duration of the event.
WWMB Retail Marketing Managers are forming a connection between retailers and Wisconsin cheesemakers to increase awareness for the event and build exclusive, in-store promotions and live events that will encourage consumer purchases. Several Wisconsin cheese manufacturers are also working with retail partners on special branded point of sale displays and on-pack coupon promotions.
The Grilled Cheese Academy currently possesses over 150 grilled cheese recipes that are made with Wisconsin cheese, and will make even the most stoic mouth water.
