Yoplait Introduces New Girl Scout Cookie™-Inspired Yogurt

Tuesday, December 12th, 2017

Girl Scout Cookie season is something that everyone can join in on—it is the universal unifier in its appeal to all tastes. The problem lies in it only being available at supermarket entrances or through coworkers’ daughters during that one special time of the year, but consumers will be happy to hear that Yoplait is tapping into the addicting nature that the cookies possess. The yogurt brand is adding three flavors to its fan-favorite lineups—Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Chocolate (also known as Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties), and Caramel Coconut (referred to as Samoas or Caramel deLites)—as it gets in the spirit of those who just cannot get enough of their favorite cookies.

Doug Martin, Business Unit Director, Yoplait"For those who wish they had more ways to enjoy their favorite chocolate mint, peanut butter chocolate, and caramel coconut flavors, we have three delicious, new yogurts inspired by America's most popular Girl Scout Cookie flavors," said Doug Martin, Business Unit Director for Yoplait, in a recent press release. "Girl Scouts of the USA does extraordinary things for girls like teaching them valuable life and business skills through the Girl Scout Cookie Program®, which is why we are honored to work with the organization."

Yoplait® Whips!® Peanut Butter Chocolate Girl Scout Cookie-inspired yogurt

The company is sharing the Girl Scout love around because not all of the additions will hit the same line; Caramel Coconut will come in the brand’s original yogurt style, while the Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Chocolate varieties will be a much welcomed addition to the Yoplait Whips! line. While it nixes high-fructose corn syrup, Whips! fluffier, mousse-like texture is partnered with the live and active cultures it offers. When can consumers get their hands on these surely addicting yogurt options? The Girl Scout cookie yogurts are hitting shelves this month, and customers are not the only ones rejoicing.

Barry Horowitz, GSUSA, Chief Revenue Officer"Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) is excited about its relationship with Yoplait to create yogurts inspired by three of the beloved Girl Scout Cookie flavors," said Barry Horowitz, GSUSA Chief Revenue Officer, in the same press release. "Beyond the delicious flavor, the yogurts will also remind consumers everywhere of the power of Girl Scout Cookies. The cookie program is the largest entrepreneurial training program for girls in the world, and we are pleased Yoplait is working with us to share the message about the program and the impact of Girl Scouts with even more families in America."

Yoplait® Original Caramel Coconut Girl Scouts Cookies-inspired yogurt

Food & Wine reports a subtle minty-ness alongside the tart tanginess of yogurt in the Thin Mints Whips!, and the Caramel Coconut carried flecks of real coconut to compliment the sweetness it offers. While this tasty venture to bring some of our favorite cookies to yogurt has proven to be delicious, this isn’t the first time the snacks have made a splash in another industry—gun and breakfast cereal have both been dressed up with the flavors offered by Girl Scouts cookies.

How will consumers take to the new flavors? Will Yoplait bring out more flavors in the future? So many cookies—I mean questions— to bite into, but Deli Market News will keep you updated with the latest in the industry!
