Organic goods have braved convenience, and the future is looking bright. This year, Organic Valley attended NACS (The Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing) with one thing in mind: getting organic options to consumers who want to eat healthier, clean-ingredient snacks on-the-go. Introducing new products and expanding on existing lines, Organic Valley and Mighty Organic are excited about the growth in the convenience channel and what it means for organic foods.
“The demographics and the demands of the convenience store shopper have changed,” said Ellie France, Brand Manager. “Now is the time to meet their needs and provide more organic food options. Consumers today want healthy food produced in a sustainable, humane manner. That desire doesn’t stop at the convenience store door. When consumers see Organic Valley and Mighty Organic products on convenience store shelves, they can expect the same commitment to the best tasting, organic food we bring to grocery and natural foods outlets around the country. This sets us apart from many products found on c-store shelves and is exactly what today’s on-the-go consumer is seeking.”
Touting non-GMO, non-antibiotic, no synthetic hormones or toxic pesticide products, Organic Valley encourages consumers to make a difference and support its cooperative of organic farms when grabbing a healthy snack to eat on the go. On top of its Good to Go milk, Stringlets string cheese, and Organic Fuel and Organic Balance protein drinks, Organic Valley recently launched new organic convenience store single-serving products.
“Organic Valley introduced Good to Go Hardboiled eggs – organic, free-range eggs that come peeled and ready to eat,” said France. “They’re a perfect high-protein snack from our cooperative’s small family farms, where hens are given room to roam in the great outdoors. We’ve also grown our line of Mighty Organic meat snacks with Mighty Organic Beef Sticks in Original, Teriyaki, and Spicy Jalapeno. These are the first and only organic, 100% grass-fed beef sticks on the market and are a great addition to the line, which also includes jerky and bars.”
Convenience stores are a growing market for organic foods, and can satisfy current consumer demand, as well as introduce organic to new consumers who have been looking for more convenient ways to fit organic foods in to their busy lives.
