Beehive Cheese has been a busy bee over the last month. The cheesemaker recently nabbed two awards from the 2022 International Cheese and Dairy Awards (ICDA). On top of that, the company also took home two more awards from the American Cheese Society (ACS) Competition Awards.

Oliver Ford, Director of Sales, Beehive Cheese“Our cheesemakers are rock stars, and we’re so proud of the work they do day in and day out,” commented Oliver Ford, Director of Sales, on the company’s ICDA awards. “It’s been a phenomenal year for our newest cheese, Queen Bee Porcini, and winning an award like this for a brand-new product is very exciting. Seahive has been around since 2007, and it’s incredible that it continues to win recognition.”

The cheesemaker took home a gold and bronze award at the ICDA amongst 5,550 entries this year. Its seahive Cheese took home the gold in the Sweet Additives category (hard and semi-hard, non-UK), which is a Utah Cheddar rubbed with ancient sea salt and honey. The Queen Bee Porcini took home the bronze award in the Best USA Cheese (any cheese with additives category). The Queen Bee Porcini is a savory cheddar rubbed with porcini mushroom dust and a previous Super Gold winner at the 2021 World Cheese Awards.

Beehive Cheese took home four awards, two of which are gold for its Seahive Cheese and bronze recognition for Queen Bee Porcini from the 2022 International Cheese and Dairy Awards

Adding another accolade to its impressive portfolio, Beehive Cheese also took home 1st place for its Red Butte Hatch Chile and 3rd place for its Barely Buzzed at the ACS.

There were over 1,500 entrants in 120 categories this year at ACS, and Beehive Cheese’s Red Butte Hatch Chile received 1st place in the Cheddar with Hot Pepper/Spicy Flavor with its creamy and smoky flavor notes with a proper balance of heat. The coriander in the rub on the rind gives it a mellow lemony undertone while the New Mexico Hatch Chiles in the paste provides depth and smokiness.

Beehive Cheese also nabbed 1st place for its Red Butte Hatch Chile and 3rd place for its Barely Buzzed from the American Cheese Society Competition Awards

Barely Buzzed nabbed 3rd place in the Rubbed-Rind Cheese with added flavor category. The cheese features a full-bodied cheese with a nutty flavor and smooth texture, and the espresso and lavender rub imparts notes of butterscotch and caramel.

All of Beehive’s cheeses can be purchased at Sprouts Farmers Markets nationwide as well as other select grocery stores and independent cheese shops.

Congratulations all around! Keep checking back to Deli Market News as we report on the awards and innovations in our industry.
