When my team and I descended upon the California Artisan Cheese Festival last year, we were met with friendly faces and products taking part in the event. One specialty cheese supplier I am always happy to meet with is Beehive Cheese, which recently gave me an overview of its plans for the 2023 event.
“This event provides exposure and allows us to ‘make friends with cheese.’ It is for folks who love eating quality cheese and introducing it to their friends,” explained Katie Schall, Marketing Director. “We love it when someone brings our unique cheese to a party and says, ‘Trust me, you gotta try this.’”
At the event, Beehive will be showing off its Barely Buzzed, Red Butte Hatch Chile, Queen Bee Porcini, Seahive, and various other unique cheeses. Using the hashtag #makingfriendswithcheese, the producer aims to spread awareness about its products and value proposition.
“The Cheese Fest is one of California’s premier artisan events for the public that unites the entire state in a celebration of nature’s best fermented food—cheese!” Katie told me.
Beehive has been attending the event for over 12 years as a Utah producer operating under the California Artisan Cheese Guild.
“We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the guild; it was extremely helpful in the early days of growing our business,” Katie added. “Now that we’ve been around for 18 years, we love sharing what we know with younger California cheesemakers.”
The festival, taking place March 24–26, attracts some of the hottest cheesemakers in the state, and this year’s event promises to be spectacular. Stay tuned for more event coverage coming your way.
