While Target has long held the title of ideal Valentine’s Day date spot, the retail giant just added yet another reason to rank as one of grocery’s most loved up spots. This month, Belgian Boys announced that it is bringing its authentic Dutch stroopwafel to a new audience with a mid-Feburary launch at 265 Target locations. Now, consumers won’t have to ask their valentine’s to “be mine” the old fashioned way, but can instead walk them to Belgian Boys’ spot in the recently renovated café section to declare their love.

Anouck Gotlib, CEO, Belgian Boys“We’re excited to offer a perfect afternoon indulgence alongside Target’s new café offerings,” said Anouck Gotlib, Belgian Boys CEO. “The single-serve stroopwafel is a delicious grab-and-go treat that pairs well with a morning or mid-afternoon coffee or tea. Compared to the typical fare, it also brings a little bit of adventure.”

One of Belgian Boys’ top-selling products, the stroopwafel will roll out in new single-serve packaging—the baked good is usually sold in 2-packs or in 8-unit tins. Not only is the stroopwafel 15 percent bigger in diameter—making it better suited to rest on top of the larger coffee cups found throughout America—its single-serve option offers a portion-controlled way for consumers to indulge, according to a press release.

“We truly believe that when you decide to indulge, you should indulge well,” continued Gotlib. “That’s why our stroopwafels are made with high quality ingredients and 14 percent butter, compared to many competitor products that lean heavily on margarine. The single-serve lets you enjoy that real butter and real sugar in a sensible and measured way.”

Company President Greg Galel added, “We grew up eating stroopwafels in Europe, but what drives us at Belgian Boys is bringing our beloved treats to a new market. We learned quickly that the classic 80mm size stroopwafel would fall into the typical larger American mug or coffee cup, so we made our stroopwafels large enough to rest on top.”

In addition to the new Single-Serve Stroopwafel, the Classic Belgian Waffles, Chocolate Belgian Waffles, Speculoos Mini Cookie Stash, and Chocolate Chip Mini Cookie Stash will also be available at Target locations.
