An executive shakeup is taking place under the roof of Campbell Soup Company. Effective November 30, Charles A. Brawley, III has been appointed as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary; he succeeds Adam Ciongoli, who has accepted a role at another company.
In this newly expanded role, Brawley will oversee the company’s Legal department, including Government Affairs, Global Security, and Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, according to a press release. He will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Clouse and become a member of Campbell’s Operating Committee.
Brawley first joined the specialty company in 2016, most recently holding the title of Senior Vice President, Corporate Secretary, and Deputy General Counsel. In this role, he oversaw Campbell’s legal functions of corporate governance, securities law, and commercial contracts. Prior to joining the Campbell team, Brawley served as Senior Vice President, Secretary, and Associate General Counsel of Lincoln Financial Group.
“Charlie has played a crucial role in all aspects of Campbell’s strategy and business, working closely with me, the Operating Committee, and our Board of Directors. I’m pleased that our strong talent pipeline enables us to promote Charlie to step into this critical role and continue to build upon our momentum,” said Clouse.
This transition kicks off as Ciongoli accepts an outside opportunity. Ciongoli has played an integral role in Campbell’s transformation, having served as General Counsel and Chief Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility, and Governance Officer. He is leaving the company to join Fox Corporation as Chief Legal and Policy Officer.
“Adam has been an invaluable strategic partner to me and our Board of Directors. We are deeply grateful for his contributions and wish him the best in his new role,” Clouse added.
