Cargill Introduces New Grab-and-Go Snacks

Like a lioness in the Serengeti, hunger can strike at any moment—even at the most inopportune times, especially when consumers are on the go, running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Animal analogies aside, convenience is a key factor when developing and marketing products that will appeal to consumers. Taking note of this trend, Cargill’s Honeysuckle White®, Shady Brook Farms®, and Castle Wood Reserve® brands are introducing new grab-and-go snacks that deliver on both convenience and health benefits.

People’s lives are busier than ever these days—take a look at your calendar and tell me I’m wrong! According to Datassential’s Keynote Report on snacking, 94 percent of people snack at least once a day, and four or five snacks per day is the average amount. Clearly, the market for snacks is booming—even more so for healthy and high-protein snacks. The same report showed that 46 percent of consumers have an interest in high-protein snacks, and 71 percent report that they would pay more for healthy snacks. Cargill has tackled convenience and protein head-on with the range of new snacks in its portfolio.

The company’s Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms brands are introducing a line of Turkey Dippers—a portable, high-protein, low-carb snack of turkey breast tenders paired with one of three hearty, vegetable-based dips. With flavors of spinach dip, classic guacamole, and roasted garlic hummus, the snack kits satisfy a range of taste preferences. Each kit contains 8 or less grams of carbohydrates per package, and at least 16 grams of protein, making them ideal for today’s trendy low-carb diets. The turkey is also raised by independent family farmers who do not use added hormones or growth-promoting antibiotics.

Cargill’s Castle Wood Reserve brand is introducing Premium Snacking Kits, a line of premium-quality, protein-packed snacks in four exciting flavor combinations. Each package contains rolled deli meat paired with a cheese and a unique premium side, like dark chocolate dried cherries, or yogurt-covered granola clusters. The flavor combinations are expertly crafted by chefs, and each kit contains between 12 and 15 grams of protein.

The Castle Wood Reserve snack kits come in the following flavors:

  • Oven Roasted Turkey Breast with asiago cheese and yogurt-covered granola clusters
  • Pepper-Rubbed Turkey Breast with pepper jack cheese and a blend of dried cranberries and blueberries
  • Black Forest Uncured Ham with gouda cheese and dark chocolate dried cherries
  • Genoa Salami with provolone cheese and chocolate-covered pretzels

All of the previously mentioned snack kits will be available starting in the fall of this year, so convenience-minded consumers can have a bite while holiday shopping, or just going about their daily, sometimes hectic, lives.
