Oh, we do love news from Costco, and to hear from the Costco news gods twice in one week is almost too good to be true. Only recently announcing its curbside pickup program launch, Costco is looking into additional expansion plans, this time through an acquisition of land in San Antonio, Texas.
With the recent acquisition, speculations of a new store follow, taking root on the west side of the city. According to an article from MySA, the 16.44-acre property was purchased by the retailer and is located at the corner of Loop 1604 and Potranco Road in San Antonio. The location is housed between a Walmart Supercenter and the Shops at Dove Creek.
While a Costco spokesperson perviously told the news source the company does not comment on future warehouses until it is ready to share details, a 160,620 square-foot building is expected at the location, featuring an open canopy and a gas station, according to recent filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Should this location be confirmed, it will join the likes of H-E-B, Walmart, and Five Below, all of whom have seen the region as a site for growth.
Costco's expansion strategy will be one to watch, so stay tuned with us here at Deli Market News.
