DoorDash is eyeing new spaces and opportunities as it seeks to expand its reach further outside its core business of foodservice delivery. As the ever-evolving delivery force recently announced, the company is exploring new ways to diversify its offerings and invest in a growing cash pile.
"The two largest areas of investment are expansion and penetration outside of the United States, as well as the same outside of restaurants," DoorDash Chief Executive Officer Tony Xu said in an interview with the Financial Times.
After already establishing a strong presence in the restaurant delivery space, DoorDash has set its focus on the retail sector as another prime area for growth in recent years.
In 2023 alone, the company significantly bolstered its retail presence through strategic alliances with Aldi, Stater Bros. Markets, Eataly, The Save Mart Companies, and more.
