Big things are happening in the world of chocolate! While the flavor of many consumers’ favorite go-to snack remains the same, the faces behind it are changing, as GODIVA announced its new CEO, Nurtac Ziyal Afridi.
"The exceptional quality of our products reflects our rich and beautiful heritage, dedication to innovation, and commitment to using the finest ingredients. We will continue to extend our reach and leverage an omnichannel approach to deliver on our beloved brand, maintaining a strong connection with our fans and ensuring our premium chocolates are more available and accessible to our global consumers," said Afridi.
The new appointment comes after two months of Afridi serving as interim Chief Executive Officer, during which she developed a three-year strategy to optimize GODIVA’s omnichannel structure, a press release revealed.
Afridi serves as a board member for both GODIVA and Chief Strategy and Growth Officer of Yildiz Holding, which owns the popular chocolate company. In her new role, she will focus on making the supplier’s products more accessible to consumers, as well as building loyalty, by extending into new channels and geographies through the use of online resources.
“We continue to be very focused on leveraging digital technology to anticipate the needs of consumers, exceed expectations, and make GODIVA the most top-of-mind premium chocolate brand. I am honored to work with my extraordinary team on these endeavors during such a pivotal time for GODIVA," Afridi said.
During her time with parent company Yildiz Holding, Afridi helped transform the business into a global phenomenon, with over 300 brands available in more than 120 different countries. Continuing on her streak of success, Afridi also led the acquisition of GODIVA in 2008, and the licensing deals for GODIVA in Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, and Australia. She also led the acquisitions of Sok Marketler, McVitie’s, Carr’s, Jacobs, and United Biscuits. Prior to joining Yildiz Holding, she held leadership positions at other companies, including Accenture and Arthur Andersen & Co. Afridi also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Finance in Instanbul and her MBA in Germany.
Afridi’s mission is to use her extended experience to make GODIVA’s products a go-to destination for consumers looking to treat themselves or others to a sweet treat.
"Afridi brings an impressive combination of business, operational, and finance expertise to GODIVA along with a strong passion for people and nurturing talent. She has a proven track record of powerful business results in corporate development, which will ensure that GODIVA continues to capture opportunities that honor its roots and align with its bold vision for the future," said Murat Ulker, GODIVA's Chairman.
We at Deli Market News wish Nurtac Ziyal Afridi all the best as she works to get GODIVA into more hungry hands.
