Since San Francisco, California, is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the DMN headquarters, we are always excited to hear about retailers popping up in the city. The latest announcement comes from Island Pacific, which is bridging its first location to San Francisco.
According to reporting from The Real Deal, this store will serve a sizable Filipino population living nearby and will also be the chain’s fifth Bay Area location.
SFGate also reported that the retailer filed applications and a formula retail use request Monday, August 28. The proposed 33,910-square-foot store would feature a produce department, meat and seafood counter, and food court, among other amenities, according to planning documents.
One of the reasons this move has garnered attention is due to the proximity of another specialty grocer. Just over a mile away is H Mart, the popular Korean supermarket chain.
I can’t wait to see this new store for myself! Keep reading DMN for more grocery news.
