As if Johnsonville couldn’t expertly expand any more, the company has announced that it will be adding Vermont Smoke & Cure to its delicious portfolio of meat products. The Vermont-based brand and privately held company will now operate as part of the Johnsonville team while still maintaining its own brand name, leadership lineup, and operations.
“We see this as a great marriage of complimentary capabilities and culture/values,” said Johnsonville CEO Nick Meriggioli. “We’re looking forward to sharing our 75 years of sausage-making expertise, scale, and resources to grow Vermont Smoke & Cure’s existing footprint.”
Founded in 1962, the East Coast meat-snacking company, Vermont Smoke & Cure, produces clean-ingredient, hand-crafted meat snacks. According to a press release, the brand offers up a hearty list of appetizing products which include the likes of meat snack sticks, bulk pepperoni, and summer sausages, just to name a few.
All of Vermont Smoke & Cure’s offerings are free of MSG, artificial flavors, sweeteners, preservatives, and allergens like milk, eggs, gluten, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, and soy.
“The attraction of Johnsonville arises from our mutual focus on quality proteins and ingredients, along with providing excellent customer and consumer experiences,” said Vermont Smoke & Cure President Tara Murphy, who will continue to lead the business along with her leadership team.
The company currently employs about 45 people who will continue to work with the brand as it remains a stand-alone enterprise in Hinesburg, Vermont.
As Johnsonville continues to expand its operations and portfolio, Deli Market News will continue to provide the latest updates.
