While some believe that cheese is just a snack, to me it’s a staple. That is why I was thrilled when I saw that Maytag Dairy Farms had announced the release of its new Maytag Farm Reserve Blue Cheese. Continuing the artisan cheesemaker’s legacy with an added twist, the new blue cheese is encased in a natural rind that will create a new flavor experience for all those who partake.
“The thought and care we put into making Farm Reserve shows in its complex and unique flavor,” said Vice President Product Development and third-generation Cheesemaker, Robert Wadzinski. “We are excited to share something new with longtime fans of Maytag Blue Cheese.”
Made from cows’ milk, the Maytag Farm Reserve is aged with its natural bloomy rind still intact. The result of this process is a dense cheese with the distinct blue cheese tanginess that sets it apart from other cheese varieties. According to a press release, the rind and aging process create a dusky, nutty flavor, and the completely edible rind offers an elevated intensity to the flavor profile.
The cheese is aged in the same caves where Maytag Blue Cheese has been ripened to perfection since 1941, adding a historic flair to the new offering as well as a storied legacy that shows the background that Maytag brings to each product.
As the tradition of Maytag Blue Cheese continues to evolve, the new Farm Reserve Blue Cheese is another delicious product that can be enjoyed by consumers nationwide. The blue cheese variety is now available for purchase directly from Maytag Dairy Farms, and is soon to hit retail partners.
