Old Croc Introduces New “Classic” Cheddar

When a consumer thinks about Cheddar, they often picture a generic block of yellow cheese, unaware that the variety has a depth of flavor and texture that can run the gamut from sharp with a crunch, to mild and creamy. It is up to cheese producers to seek out gaps in the market and identify the products that will resonate with its customers and consumers the most.

Trugman-Nash, Inc., the makers of the award-winning Old Croc Cheddars, has leveraged the company’s keen eye for determining what will truly appeal to cheddar lovers and enrich the specialty cheese case into one of the fast-growing imported Cheddar brands in America. Well known for its popular cheddar varieties, the brand has recently extended its line to include its newest offering—Old Croc “Classic” Cheddar, a grass-fed Cheddar that proudly reflects the vibrant, adventurous spirit characteristic of Australia and its people—a land where they live life to the fullest; enjoying an active, fun-loving, healthy lifestyle…with good food, good drink, and good friends.

“We’re very excited to bring this delicious new cheese to the table,” said David Raff, Trugman-Nash’s Executive Vice President. “Our new “Classic” Cheddar is irresistibly rich and creamy and delivers a true Cheddar flavor that lingers on the palette,” he added, “The smooth body of the cheese is also extremely sliceable and shreddable, and it melts beautifully, making it an excellent deli cheese.”

Old Croc’s new “Classic” Cheddar is ideal for consumers seeking a more versatile Cheddar that is perfect for snacking, added to recipes or melted in sandwiches or on burgers

Old Croc’s new “Classic” Cheddar joins the brand’s existing line of aged, grass-fed Cheddars, which include its Grand Reserve, a two-year-plus aged Cheddar; Extra Sharp Cheddar, an 18-months-plus aged Cheddar; Sharp Cheddar, a twelve-month-plus aged Cheddar; and Smoked Cheddar, a naturally-smoked Cheddar using applewood. The new addition uses a unique aging process that results in a mild tasting Cheddar while maintaining a subtle “bite”. Old Croc’s new “Classic” Cheddar is ideal for consumers seeking a more versatile Cheddar that is perfect for snacking, added to recipes or melted in sandwiches or on burgers. Best of all, like its other aged Cheddars, Old Croc ”Classic” Cheddar is also crafted with milk from happy grass-fed cows, with no added hormones or GMO’s.

“It’s not going to be an overwhelming flavor profile, like our Grand Reserve will be,” David assured me. “Our Grand Reserve and other exceptional Cheddars are aged differently, generally developing crystals or a crunchiness to it—which many aged-Cheddar lovers are looking for. Old Croc’s new “Classic” Cheddar, however, has a more universal appeal and a taste profile that grownups and children alike can enjoy.

In the cheese world, diversity of products can be just as important as diversity of flavor, and Old Croc continues to develop delicious new products for American cheese lovers. The company launched a line of flavorful Spreadable Cheddars last year, initially in two flavors—Bacon Jalapeño and Roasted Garlic and Herb. Old Croc has now expanded the line to include a new Sharp Cheddar flavor, giving consumers numerous avenues to enjoy traditional Cheddar flavor. Old Croc’s Spreadable Cheddars are made with real aged Australian White Cheddar, as opposed to many other spreadable cheeses that often use cream cheese as a base.

Trugman-Nash has developed a portfolio of products that truly cater to every Cheddar lover’s needs

Between Old Croc’s signature line of cheddars that run the gamut from bold, sharp flavors to mild creaminess, and its Spreadable Cheddars, Trugman-Nash has developed a portfolio of products that truly cater to every Cheddar lover’s needs. Does your customer want a smooth Cheddar to shred onto a baked potato? Or are they looking to make a splash on a cheese board? Either way, Old Croc has something they’ll love. And as the cheesemaker continues to expand its products and flavors, an even wider audience of consumers will want a “bite” of Old Croc.
