Last year, NUGGS announced its presence in the plant-based sector by teasing a product launch unlike any other. Now, the McCain Foods-backed start-up is finally making its highly anticipated retail debut, slated for this spring.

Since its launch in 2019, NUGGS has sold out every version of its constantly updated nuggets through an entirely direct-to-consumer model that has relied on customer feedback to improve each release, according to a press release. Now, as it enters retail shelves, NUGGS has selected retailers Acosta (for the conventional grocery market) and Green Spoon (for the natural grocery market) to make its retail launch official.
On top of its retail debut, NUGGS also expanded its leadership team, hiring industry veteran Matt Merson as Vice President of Sales—a role integral to the brand’s retail launch.

Merson has over 30 years of experience working in food and beverage, which includes 15 years in foodservice with both Dannon and Sara Lee. Over the course of his career, he has held a number of key leadership positions across Coca-Cola, Energy Brands, Boxed Water, and ZICO Coconut Water.
