Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company's Connie Concon Discusses Newest Products

I’m here today to tell you about the two newest cheeses that Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company launched at the end of June: Truffle Brie and Fennel Blue. According to Connie Concon, National Sales Director, they are both surpassing all expectations at retail in Q4.

Connie Concon, National Sales Director, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co.“Truffle Brie and Fennel Blue have gained significant recognition since they were launched this past spring,” Connie began telling me. “Truffle Brie, with seven awards year-to-date, is clearly resonating positively with judges and consumers alike, reflecting its consistent quality and enjoyability. Fennel Blue's early success, with three awards in prestigious competitions like the American Cheese Society Competition, the California State Fair, and, most recently, the World Cheese Awards, is an excellent sign for a new product. We are thrilled with the initial critical acclaim.”

Connie explained that consumers increasingly seek bold, unique, and gourmet flavors in cheeses, moving beyond traditional varieties. As interest in artisanal cheese grows, so does the demand for cheese with unique flavor infusions, such as truffle, fennel, specialty herbs, and spices.

“The immediate response during tastings creates almost an ‘aha’ moment—at first, people are unsure how the fennel will pair with blue mold, but once they sample the decadent (and addictive!) Fennel Blue, they fall in love. I believe it’s the combination of savory plus sweet with just a hint of licorice that is truly revolutionary on the palate,” Connie continued. “Truffle Brie is such a luxurious and indulgent cheese, people are just crazy for it. The summer black truffles are sourced from the Sabatino family in Umbria, and while not overbearing in any way, they give such a smooth, subtle flavor, surprising both cheese lovers and retailers with delight.”

With these two new offerings, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company is hitting the mark with its commitment to quality and value.

“Offering exceptional award-winning, artisanal cheeses at the right price point is a proven strategy, especially as consumers are increasingly looking for premium products without breaking the bank. It’s clear that we have found a way to balance the artistry of cheesemaking with everyday accessibility, helping to build a loyal customer base,” Connie concluded.
