Publix, Wegmans, and Target Named on Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For® List; Todd Jones and Colleen Wegman Comment

What retailers are putting their best foot forward and ensuring the vital success of their workforce? Well, we’re about to find out, as Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For® list has been released. Making the list this year is Publix, Wegmans, and Target.

Todd Jones, Chief Executive Officer, Publix“Our Founder, George Jenkins, started Publix more than 90 years ago because he wanted to build a better supermarket that treated its associates with dignity and respect and its customers like royalty,” said Publix Chief Executive Officer Todd Jones. “Today, we’re proud to keep his philosophies alive and are honored to continue to be on the Best Companies to Work For list.”

Great Place To Work analyzed the anonymous survey responses of more than half a million employees. Companies also submitted essays describing their efforts to offer support for workers, which were validated against employee survey responses.

Publix, Wegmans, and Target are the three grocers that made the list this year, each exemplifying their own commitment to their workers

According to a press release, this is the 26th consecutive year Publix has been named to the list—one of only four companies to have been recognized every year since the list’s inception. Publix actively supports its associates’ growth by investing in their future with training and mentorship, providing opportunities for career development, and benefits that help advance their education like tuition reimbursement.

Coming in at number four this year, this is also Wegmans' 26th time being named to the prestigious list.

Colleen Wegman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Wegmans Food Markets“We continue to believe we can only be a great place to shop if we are a great place to work,” Colleen Wegman, President and CEO of Wegmans, said in another press release. “The values we share across our company are demonstrated in the way our employees care for each other, our customers, and our community. We are so grateful for everyone’s dedication to making Wegmans a special place to work and shop for all, and we celebrate this honor together.”

Target came in at number 26 on the list. More details can be found on the official list, which is published here.
