Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association Announces November Webinar Focused on Internships; John Umhoefer Comments

MADISON, WI
Tuesday, November 9th, 2021

Learning is an ongoing adventure, and our industry is ripe with opportunities to continue building out our toolboxes with programs, educational sessions, and connections. Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA) is aiming to provide that conducive environment with an exclusive webinar on November 16. The free webinar will focus on building an effective, dynamic internship program to help companies establish a prosperous relationship with future industry members.

John Umhoefer, Executive Director, Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association“Filling positions in dairy processing is extraordinarily challenging right now,” Executive Director John Umhoefer stated. “An engaging internship program is a proven strategy to help employers connect with the emerging workforce. We look forward to sharing tips for members who are looking to improve their existing internship programs or establish new ones.”

On Tuesday, November 16, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. (CT), WCMA staff will lead an engaging agenda featuring two speakers whose experience covers both internship development and dairy processing:

  • Timothy Strait, Ph.D. and Coordinator of the Wisconsin Internship Initiative at the state’s Department of Workforce Development, will discuss the benefits and expectations of internships and share available resources to help WCMA members get started
  • Jill Swanson, Human Resources Talent Partner at WCMA member Grande Cheese Company, will deliver valuable insights and suggestions for creating a successful internship program that benefits both participants and businesses
