One of the latest snacks to hit the cheese market also hit the DeliMarket News office recently.
Arthur Shuman Inc.’s new Cello Whisps, made with Cello’s gold-medal award winning copper kettle Parmesan cheese, aged 14 months, are known for their “flavorful, airy, crispy – whispy! – bite,” according to the company.
Named because they are neither a cracker nor a chip, but airy and light, the pronunciation (“chello” not “sello”) was a point of contention before the team had even opened the fine packaging.
As we previously reported, Cello Whisps are all-natural, gluten and wheat-free, and contain only a single ingredient – Parmesan cheese. They can be eaten right out of the bag, or can be added in to complement a salad or appetizer.
For the team experience, we went with the pure approach and were not disappointed. The flavor had enough bite without being overwhelming, with a satisfying crunch that didn’t hurt the teeth like a cracker could.
There is also a comfort that accompanies eating a snack similar to a chip that is in line with today’s trends of all-natural ingredients.
The packaging is resealable, making it easy for consumers to grab and go, with inviting assurances of being a good source of protein and calcium on the front of the bag.
Overall it was a fun opportunity to lift the office atmosphere and to get our hands a little cheesy.
Still not sold on if this is a product you want to stock?
The company is hosting an event in New York City, where a street team will have Cello Whisp samples for anyone who wants to try. The team will be there with enough parmesan snacks for everyone from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 28th.
Thank you to the team at Arthur Shuman for sharing this latest product.
