SpartanNash Appoints Brian Holt as Vice President of Marketing

SpartanNash is looking to make some serious moves to its consumer impact. The company has announced a new executive to its ranks, as Brian Holt has been appointed as Vice President, Marketing, effective Monday.

Larry Pierce, Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing, SpartanNash“Brian is an accomplished senior leader and marketing specialist, with a history of boosting sales performance through retailer loyalty programs and marketing campaigns,” said Larry Pierce, Executive Vice President, Merchandising and Marketing, in a press release. “He is also well versed in market penetration and growth through consumer research and product placement strategies. As SpartanNash expands its click-and-collect program, yes loyalty efforts and personalized shopping experiences, Brian will be a valuable addition to lead our marketing team.”  

Brian Holt, Vice President of Marketing, SpartanNashBrian comes to the company from fellow retailer Weis Markets, and will report directly to Executive Vice President, Merchandising and Marketing, Larry Pierce, in this position. In his new role, Brian will be responsible for driving consumer engagement through marketing, advertising, brand positioning, market research, e-commerce, and loyalty programs.

Most recently at Weis, Brian served as Vice President of Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations where he led marketing and consumer communication strategy as well as e-commerce, loyalty marketing, and corporate branding initiatives for the regional food retailer. Brian also served as Director of Marketing for three years, and was responsible for strong web and social media presence.

In 2014, Brian was also named to the Top 40 Under 40 in the Food Industry by the Griffin Report. Prior to his work with Weis, Brian held various marketing and product management positions with Black & Decker Hardware and Home Improvement, Masco Corporation, R&B Inc., and Newell Rubbermaid. 

Brian holds a Master’s Degree in Marketing from St. Joseph’s University—where he also serves as a member of the Academy of Food Marketing Board of Governors—and a Bachelor’s Degree from Drexel. Brian is also a graduate of the Food Executive Program at Cornell University.
