The competitive North Texas market is preparing for the arrival of even more WinCo stores as the wholesaler announces two new stores and a new 830,000-square-foot distribution center.
According to Dave Butler, Executive Vice President and CFO of WinCo, the new distribution center is large enough to supply between 25 and 35 stores. The center will open with roughly 165 employees, but will increase its staff to upwards of 250 to 300 as more retail stores open for the center to supply.
The distribution center will be built in Denton, TX, which will also provide as a site for one of the two newly announced wholesale stores. The other store will open in Arlington, TX, with each providing about 115 to 130 people with jobs.
Butler continued on to say that the company has no plans to stop there, as WinCo real estate staff is “actively searching the region” for additional new store sites. The company currently has seven established stores in Texas, including locations in:
The Morning News reported that WinCo’s high-volume, 95,000-square-foot stores sell around $1.5 million worth of inventory per week. WinCo currently operates 107 throughout Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Texas Utah, and Washington.
WinCo currently has four other distribution centers, located in Boise, ID, Modesto, CA, Woodburn, OR, and Phoenix, AZ.
