The 2017 Golden Globes award ceremony is right around the corner. The best and brightest stars from film and television will be on hand, in full red carpet regalia, this weekend. And the event promises more than merely "just desserts" for talented award winners; it promises actual desserts—delicious and refined confections sure to push forward food trends.
Thomas Henzi, Executive Pastry Chef at The Beverly Hilton, gave E News an exclusive scoop on the event—which will serve more than 1,400 desserts to the most famous stars in entertainment.
With an elevated, modern take on tiramisu, profiteroles, and other traditional Italian and French desserts, the event offers guests a decadent take on timeless flavors that may be on the rise.
Profiteroles combining amaretto cream, slivered almonds, caramel, and chocolate look amazing, as does a forward-thinking take on tiramisu combining Nutella mousse, mascarpone, coffee, and caramel sponge cake.
And health-conscious celebrities needn’t sacrifice their waistline to partake: “Occasionally, they’ll ask for sugar-free or vegan desserts, but we’re well prepared for that,” Henzi told E News. “This year we have a vegan blackberry kiwi sorbet cylinder that we’re doing, with a lot of fresh berries.”
Will we be seeing these desserts and their opulent flavors spread to neighborhood grocery stores’ bakery departments? Only time can tell. Check in with Deli Market News for updates on flavor trends.
