Once upon a time… There appeared a bakery in Chicago that was like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder and mystery and delicious baked goods.
While other companies introduce themselves with a small history and products available, Chicago’s A Baker’s Tale, quite literally, paints a storybook picture.
Founded by Christine LaSorda, daughter of former CEO of Chrysler and Founder IncWell LLC Tom LaSorda, Chicago’s little bakery is all grown up and going national. Partnering up with her father and CEO of Savco Hospitality Sava Lelcaj, the DBusiness reports that LaSorda is launching A Baker's Tale Mail Order LLC.
And apparently the organization of owners will be shaking up the roles of the LaSorda family.
"It was only a matter of time that customer demand for A Baker's Tale treats would warrant an expansion beyond its Wicker Park neighborhood location in Chicago," Tom LaSorda told DBusiness. "I am thrilled to be partnering with my daughter Christine and, since she is the majority owner, I will be working for her. How cool is that?"
He will serve as CEO of A Baker's Tale Mail Order, bringing plenty of experience on national business, and providing a call center operation for the startup within venture capital company IncWell. Savco will bake the products at its large commercial kitchen in Ann Arbor, the Detroit Free Press reports.
"I was so awestruck at their branding," Lelcaj said of meeting Tom and Christine LaSorda in May, according to the report. "Your brand is your story. In this bakery space, it is really competitive and they have such a wonderful edge."
At 32, Lelcaj’s Savco Hospitality includes Sava's and Aventura restaurants, Babo Markets, and Tavolina Catering & Events, an impressive repertoire for only having entered the food scene in 2007. Now she joins Christine LaSorda’s fairy book story, which was only launched 18 months ago and has already been named Best Bakery in Chicago for 2014.
