Cargill Goes Tech with Plan to Nurture New Wave of Food Startups

With challenges like food security and food safety threatening the industry today, many are looking towards sustainability and entrepreneurship to implement quick solutions in the next decades. Joining the mix on the hunt for solutions, Cargill is partnering with Techstars and Ecolab to launch Techstars Farm to Fork Accelerator in Minneapolis in 2018. Accepting applications starting next month, the Accelerator will help ten of the world’s most promising startups build their business, secure capital, expand their reach, and receive input on developing technology intent on solving problems within the food industry.

At the same time, we see the partnership with Techstars as a way to inject startup energy inside Cargill, where we are committed to creating a culture that fosters technology innovation through internal expertise and external partnerships.”

Working with both early stage entrepreneurs and established startups, the Accelerator will take place over the next three years and focus on companies that can advance key aspects of the food system, like food security and safety, ag tech, consumer goods, and supply chain management. Startups accepted into the program will receive mentor support and hand-in-hand help from Cargill, Techstars, and Ecolab executives, as well as have access to the companies’ market expertise, global connections, and investment capital.
