C&S Wholesale Grocers is on the move yet again, this time having acquired Honolulu, HI-based foodservice operator Edsung Foodservice Company through its subsidiary Hawaiian Housewares Ltd.
“Edsung and the Choi family have maintained a very loyal customer base with their high-service business model and strong customer partnerships,” said Rick Cohen, C&S's Chairman and CEO, in a press release. “We are committed to maintaining Edsung’s distinctive ‘Service with Aloha’ as we welcome the employees and customers into the C&S family.”
Founded in 1946, Edsung will be consolidated into C&S’s Hansen Distribution Group division when the deal goes through, which the company noted is expected to happen in late April of this year.
Edsung currently specializes in bakery and restaurant supplies, and while C&S did not disclose the acquisition amount, it did state that the company will provide increased purchasing power and breadth.
As we previously reported, part of the wholesaler’s recent plans for further reach included a $15 million investment in a new Pennsylvania facility last December. This latest acquisition, it said, will also provide more opportunities for continued growth.
